A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in the Philippines, the Church of Santo Tomas de Villanueva in Miag-ao features a stunning facade with a unique coconut palm motif. Built in 1797, the church served as a fortress against Moro pirates and showcases a blend of Western and indigenous design elements. The intricate stone carvings depict tropical flora found nowhere else in European-style churches.
