The largest lake in Mindanao and one of the 15 oldest lakes in the world, Lake Lanao covers 354 square kilometers and sits at 702 meters above sea level in Lanao del Sur. The lake is culturally significant to the Maranao people and is home to endemic fish species found nowhere else on Earth. The surrounding area features the rich Islamic heritage of Marawi City and traditional Maranao architecture.
